Nikky Phinyawatana is a visionary entrepreneur and influencer. She is the creator and owner of the highly acclaimed and award-winning Asian Mint Restaurant Group in Dallas and Nikky Feeding Souls lifestyle brand.
Nikky Feeding Souls allows her to share her passion of feeding souls through food, culture and travel. Nikky has cultivated the art of engaging and expanding the interests of others and now offers virtual experiences that include cook “alongs”, insights to traveling and cultural exploration, culinary retreats to Southeast Asia, a YouTube series to feed the souls of others and a very active live feed to connect people and share her joy and energy.
In 2020, Nikky was featured in a special edition of D Magazine that celebrated the most influential leaders in North Texas. She was listed among the Top 500 leaders that are driving the North Texas economy and making it a vibrant place to work and live. Her virtual “Escape to Thailand” was featured in Crave DFW as she created the opportunity for those who love food and culture to explore both from the safety of their homes. 2020 also included the launch of her new line of Thai cooking sauces.
Restaurant and Hospitality.com recognized Nikky’s efforts during the COVID pandemic of 2020. They showcased how she became such a success by allowing readers to see the creativity and ability of how quickly she can “think out of the box” and adapt to new circumstances. She led her team in transforming their restaurants to offer not only carry out but also meal kits that could be prepared at home bringing the entire family into the kitchen for an experience and not just a meal. She also offered online cooking classes with meal kits to educate and connect with other foodies. Her online cooking classes incorporate stories of her native Thailand and the traditions and holidays celebrated there giving participants a full multi-cultural experience.
Nikky has also been featured on the cover of Where Women Create and was the recipient of the Women That Soar Award for “Business Award 2017.” That same year, eWomen Network also awarded her with “Business Matchmaker of the Year”. Nikky was also honored to have cooked at the James Beard House in New York City where she designed a special dinner celebrating Loy Krathong, Thailand’s lunar festival.
Having grown up in Bangkok, she ventured to Dallas and graduated high school from the internationally revered boarding and independent school, The Hockaday School in 1996. Four years later, she received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Babson College in Boston, majoring in Entrepreneurial Studies and Marketing. She later returned to Dallas and attended El Centro College Culinary School.
Nikky’s zeal for the flavors and dishes of her native Thailand translated into the creation of Asian Mint, with 4 locations in Dallas. Recognized as Eater Dallas’ #1 Best Thai Food and CultureMap Dallas’ Top 100 Restaurants, the Asian-fusion concept has also received accolades from USA Today, Zagat, TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, Dallas Observer, and D Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Thai Restaurant. Nikky has also been featured on several cooking segments on FOX 4 Good Day Dallas, along with profiles and “best of” lists in all major Dallas food, lifestyle and business – online and print publications.
Nikky is accomplished at mentoring and challenging others to reach their greatest potential through membership in organizations like Les Dames d’ Escoffier International, which provides mentorship and scholarships for the next generation of female culinary students. She also serves as a Board of Trustee Member for the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Nikky, her husband and two children call Dallas, Texas home.
