island hopping in phuket, day 3

Nikky Feeding Souls, Season 2, Episode 7: Day 3 – Island Hopping in Phuket

Thanks to its fabulous beaches and rich marine life, island hopping in Phuket is a thing you really can’t miss. So, on our third and last day there, that’s exactly what we did. We chartered a private catamaran and visited three islands off the coast of Phuket.

I tell you, it’s an amazing experience, one you should have at least once in your life. Whenever you’re in this part of the planet, you must never miss an opportunity to go island hopping in Phuket.

Where did we go island hopping in Phuket?

On our expedition, we explored three islands a few miles off Phuket’s southern coast, namely: Racha Yai, Racha Noi, and Maiton.

Racha Yai and Racha Noi are twin islands roughly six miles away from each other. Though they’re considered twin islands, they have plenty of differences to set them apart. For one, Racha Yai is becoming a luxury destination, with its own five-star hotel and classy vacation homes. It’s known for its lovely white-sand beaches and perfect blue water. Racha Noi, on the other hand, is totally uninhabited. Its waters are an enticing emerald green, but its beach is rocky. It’s long been a popular spot for fishing.

As for Maiton, it’s a small island on the eastern side of Phuket. It’s popular for its golden-sand beaches, the palm trees lining its shore, and the forested hill making up its middle. The waters surrounding the island is pristine and a great place for snorkeling. The island, however, is privately owned, with only a small hotel and a handful of beach bungalows. The lack of crowds on this island makes it a truly peaceful getaway.

We had fun swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and doing all the things you’d expect to do to have fun on the beach. But most of all, we just relaxed and enjoyed the sun.

A few surprises along the way

Island hopping in Phuket is a treat in itself. But what made our adventure so much more pleasant are the surprises we encountered.

For one, the captain of our chartered catamaran offered to catch tuna for us just so we could enjoy fresh tuna sashimi while we’re aboard the boat. How cool was that?

Another fun surprise is we had a pod of dolphins follow the catamaran near Maiton Island. It was a sight you won’t easily forget.

We ended the day with dinner at Kan Eang Seafood Restaurant back in Phuket. There we feasted on papaya salad with blue crab, jumbo fish balls, crab curry, and crispy shrimp salad. Everyone looked so relaxed after a day on the beach. Our souls were fed in more ways than one. It was a wonderful day.

You can’t really set the tone of your life if you don’t make choices to feed your soul constantly. It’s a never-ending process. We are born, and we need to live our lives to the fullest. Take the chance, take the opportunity.
